Sohaan scores 98.70 ATAR in VCE 2018

MELBOURNE, 5 JAN. Indian-origin Australian student of Caulfield Grammar (Wheelers Hill campus), Sohaan Nath has obtained an ATAR of 98.70 in his VCE 2018.

The only child of his proud parents: Mr Gopi and Mrs Kowsika Nath, Sohaan is hoping to study Bachelor of Commerce at The University of Melbourne in 2019. He has a passion for business with having completed work experience and community service at major organisations while at school.

Sohaan has also commenced working towards co-founding of Impart Mentoring which will assist aspiring students. His major subjects include business management, accounting and economics as part of his VCE studies. Apart from academics, his interests lie in and he has participated in cricket, badminton, debating, and chess. He is also keen to continue contributing assisting students in their VCE preparations.

Sohaan's other major achievements are:

1. Received Business Management/Economics/Further Maths/General Excellence award at Caulfield Grammar School

2. School Representative Captain at Nossal High School

3. Selected in the “Selective Schools Entry”, Offered entry to Nossal HS

4. The Knox School Representative Council Captain (2012 & 2013)

5. Part of the Extension and Enrichment program at The Knox School

6. Part of the team that won the state finals in the Da Vinci Decathlon (Mathematics) national competition. Participated in the national finals in Sydney

7. Music - successfully passed Trombone Grade 2 Exam with Honours

8. Australian Mathematics Competition – Distinction

9. Part of the debating team at Knox school

10. Ranked first in Knox school (1st out of 7) in the ASX stocks/shares trading competition

Explaining to Indian Voice, Sohaan's dad Gopi Nath said that he came to Australia over 20 years ago from Bangalore, India. A former officer of the Indian Forest Service (IFS), Mr Nath has done M.Eng, MBA and B.Eng. In Melbourne, he has worked in organisations like Telstra where he was a Program Manager. Prior to this, he worked in the management roles at Sensis and Energy Australia. He is currently working as a senior consultant for a consulting company in Melbourne.

Sohaan's mother holds a Bachelors degree and she currently works with Energy Australia in Melbourne.
