'I was asked to take my clothes off and dance'

NEW DELHI, 6 OCT. Former Miss India and actress Tanushree Dutta on Saturday filed a police complaint against noted actor Nana Patekar, who she has accused of sexually harassing her on the sets of a Bollywood film in 2008. Popular choreographer Ganesh Acharya has also been named in the police complaint.

This comes just hours after Nana Patekar broke his silence on the issue and said, “Jo jhuth hai woh jhuth hi hai (What is a lie is a lie only).”

Tanushree had earlier also named director Rakesh Sarang and producer Sami Siddiqui as accomplices in the harassment she faced. The actress had also alleged that while shooting for her debut film 'Chocolate' in 2008, filmmaker Vivek Agnihotri commanded her to strip and dance off-camera to give cues to her co-star Irfan Khan..

Ms Dutta reveals that while filming 2005's Chocolate - one of her best known screen appearances - she was allegedly told by the director to 'take her clothes off and dance' off camera in order to provide her co-star Irrfan Khan with 'cues.' Ms Dutta didn't name the director but she didn't have to - Chocolate was helmed by Vivek Agnihotri, who has recently made headlines for distasteful remarks and tangled publicly with actress Swara Bhasker, about whom he posted offensive and abusive tweets.

"This guy wanted me to give cues to an actor. It was an actor's close-up. It was not even my shot. I was not even going to be in the shot. It was the actor's close-up and he had to just look at something and give expressions. This director, he told me to strip and give cues," Tanushree Dutta told DNA.

This time, unlike the alleged Nana Patekar incident, everyone took Ms Dutta's part. "...The male actor had to shoot back at the director saying, 'I don't need her to take off her coat and dance for me to give facial expressions. This was Irrfan Khan. I really appreciated that he actually spoke up like that because it was his close-up shot." she told DNA.

"The actor was horrified and told the director, 'What are you talking about? I can give my close-up. Mujhe acting aati hai'. Suneil Shetty also spoke up. He was also there, he heard it and he got offended by it. He said like, 'Main aayun kya wahaan cues dene ke liye?' Yeah of course, there are good people in the industry. Both, Irrfan Khan and Suniel Shetty spoke up. Suniel scolded that guy," revealed Tanushree Dutta.

"He (Nana Patekar) was grabbing my hands and teaching me how to dance," Ms Dutta told NDTV in an interview. When she rejected his alleged advances, Mr Patekar used his political connections to have goons surround her vanity van and attack her car, she said.
