Indian youngsters opting for career in Victoria Police


MELBOURNE, 7 JULY. At the graduation ceremony held at the Victoria Police Academy in Mount Waverley today three people of Indian origin were formally inducted as Victoria Police Constables.

Constable Rupinder Sidhu (Left): Born in Punjab, India. Prior to joining the Police Academy, Constable Sidhu worked as a Protective Services Officer for four years. After gaining operational experience: Constable Sidhu would like to join the Dog Squad or a Traffic Management Unit.

Constable Gurpreet Sekhon (in the middle): Born in Punjab, India. Prior to joining the Police Academy, Constable Sekhon worked as a Protective Services Officer for three and a half years on the Hurstbridge line. Earlier, he worked as an engine dismantler in a factory, dismantling various types of car engines. After gaining operational experience, Constable Sekhon would like to join a Criminal Investigation Unit.

Constable Vardhan Arora (Right): Born in Lucknow, India. Prior to joining the Police Academy, Constable Arora worked as a Protective Services Officer. He has also completed a Bachelor of Commerce from Monash University. After gaining operational experience, Constable Arora would like to join prosecutions.
